As I walked down that road today,
Faces familiar, rose and waved
A hasty smile, a friendly glance,
A moment’s charm; a welcome trance
Before my held out hand could feel
The warmth; all that remained was th’ veil,
In my little mind, kens upheld…
As familiar sounds filled my ears
Pealed me, tearing deep within…
To wipe all sounds of all the days
And when at last I gathered strength
And stood up straight to walk all length
And found a smile, just with one sweep
