Scar

Scars - moments of the past frozen in time eternally. A scar is what happens when the word is made flesh (quote: Leonard Cohen) We remember the time around scars, we live the moment, irrelevant emotions thronging the mind, alive, making the past even more precious; A gentle reminder that at times things cannot be restored. Like death, the ‘when there wasn’t a scar’ lives through the memory of the scar. I do not remember thinking of my unscarred limbs…

I look at myself in the mirror, a faint scar under my right eyebrow; I think of this old vegetable vendor, the one who came to my granny’s colony with his ‘thela’ everyday. I remember the grey hair, the long-ish white kurta, the mouldy wooden cart, base covered in a blue ‘barsaati’ & the huge jhola with muddy, white & red threads, that he hung over his shoulder.

I know he does not remember me as he sells his vegetables today. I would like to believe that he does sell vegetables today too. Death scares me, I shy away of the end.

I keep the medallion of braving the summer sun to catch a fleeing cricket ball across the road. That afternoon, when I crashed into the full cart & was too shocked to respond to the red on my frock. I keep my scar as my proof of identity on documents of importance.

Its sad.

The one who gave it does not know he is remembered. That indelible mark caused years ago through an accident…my scar tells me that the pain of the moment is sealed & done with. The hurt is over, there is no external mark…internally, I haven’t bothered to check yet.

Sometimes, or always, all that’s buried is not dead.

Slow

How easy is it to wait for time to end? An eye on the watch and a constant ear to the seconds ticking away. Every other sound seems to drown in that sombre ticking of the clock hand. Looking for patterns & events that signify passage of time for instance, a lunch break, dusk, dawn, the 6:40 local…

But time repeats. It does not end but continues as a spiral does. Each passing day we touch the same point a little further away from the centre. But end of the day, we do see it everyday.

Time does not end…we do…

Blurred...

Its ironic, at times...how we put people up on pedestals...so easily...and more ironic how people manage to petty their position themselves in our estimation, ever more easily...

Small things, small events can make humans out of Gods...but we never realize...

Your happiness is yours, not mine...but I am not indifferent to it...If i were happy i would be God, if i were sad i would be Insecure somewhere, if i were indifferent, i would be well, indifferent...but I, I shall be neither...WHY? you ask me...? My answer is because I AM Human...

I shall not just be unhappy, i would ensure that you know you are no different than ordinary...I shall ensure you are miserable for your ecstasy...i shall ensure u are Guilty...I shall...

I am happy, I occupy MINDSPACE...I am happy, you think about ME when you hate ME...I am Happy, cause today, i can step away and see you and me as players...and in your hatred i see me winning...I see me smile as i write...

But why? Am I a sadist?

No, I do not question myself...I do not judge, I presume i know it all...

I know NOTHING...I know i know nothing...your hatred makes me stronger within somehow...somewhere, I am me...i don't need your certificates...I AM...and I WILL BE...
