Leaves...

Stepped on a leaf as I walked down that evening…nothing great, but…

Have always loved walking on the autumn roads…for the uninitiated ,leaves strewn with leaves…almost give the feeling of walking the hallowed roads in the ivy league colleges! Walking deliberately stepping carefully… “crunch, crunch…” there sure is some thrill to the sound…something that exhilarates the heart, pure bliss, unblemished!

Dried leaves, memoirs …with veins where once life flowed …intricately woven and inexplicably beautiful…leaves they are…to be yellow and to dry one day and to wither away

I saw as it peeped from beneath another one

I saw it shy but gleaming in the sun

Its delicate curves, its untouched veins

Where flowed life, as waters in a rain

Slowly and surely as days went by

It straightened its head and stood upright

Proud and green, beaming with life

Bearing the winds, the sun-all strife

Till small yellow dots of age came in

And slowly spread, like poison slow

But there it was holding its ground

Smiling in dismay to the sunsets glow

And that one day when the winds blew strong

It shuddered and swung for what seemed long

And knew it not when it came…

And it flew with wings…

Ah bliss…

Is this what you call death?

Come I embrace thee

As I fly to be free

Just a step it was, why did I fear?

A moment long lasted the tear

Unshackled, unchained, unbound, untamed

I soar to the skies as I fall free

Untie me, unbound me…

Allow me to be…

It had fallen with many others…one among many…only that it happened to be the one I stepped on…and it made a noise as if to say…, “Hi there!”

:)

I turned looked for a while and chided myself for thinking to much…another step, another leaf, another crunch… another step, another leaf, another crunch…and so on…

Nothing great about it…
